Consultation services tours are conducted to facilitate the effective implementation of subsidized funds and the immediate provision of feedback. The Taiwan Marine Education Center (TMEC) has provided consultation services tours since 2014. In 2014 and 2015, regional symposia were held. In 2016, TMEC personnel commenced visits to 22 local marine education resource centers, providing assistance needed to solve various problems. Through these consultation services tours, the TMEC gained an in-depth understanding of the promotion of marine education programs in each city, county, and special municipality, contributing to the development of comprehensive programs.

        At the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, TMEC personnel wore masks during tour meetings. Moreover, they underwent body temperature checks and disinfected their hands with ethyl alcohol before entering schools. In response to the pandemic prevention efforts of various schools, consultation services for Chiayi County, Kinmen County, Pingtung County, and Taitung County were deferred to July. From March to July, the tour service task force provided consultation services at marine education resource centers in Chiayi County, Yilan County, Taipei City, New Taipei City, Kinmen County, Tainan City, Pingtung County, and Taitung County. Aside from personnel from local resource centers, local government representatives of marine education promotion attended the consultations.

Consultation services were last provided 2 years ago (to Kinmen County, Pingtung County, and Tainan City) and 3 years ago (to Chiayi County, Yilan County, Taipei City, and New Taipei City). The education resource centers in these locations remained the recipients of consultation services offered by the TMEC. A comparison of the two consultation services tours indicated that these eight cities and counties developed more comprehensive programs on the basis of their experience. The effectivenes of the 4-year programs to the promotion of long-term marine education by local governments is evident.
