Information Session on the 2026 Grant Program for Outdoor and Marine Education

On March 19, 2026, the Taiwan Marine Education Center (TMEC) held the Information Session on the 2026 Grant Program for Outdoor and Marine Education at the GIS Xinwuri Convention Center, Taichung, Taiwan. TMEC Director Chin-Kuo Wu opened the event with an overview of the year’s outdoor and marine education initiatives. Section Chief Ms. Chen-Ling Hsu and Program Officer Mr. Wei-Chih Su from the K–12 Education Administration, Ministry of Education, introduced the application procedures and policy priorities for this year’s grant program. Director Wu and Professor Shin-Jia Ho of National Taichung University of Science and Technology then outlined the key revisions to the various funding programs and provided guidance on proposal development. An open question-and-answer session followed, during which representatives from local governments raised questions and offered suggestions regarding program implementation. Officials from the Ministry of Education responded to the representatives’ inquiries and indicated that their recommendations would be taken into consideration for further policy review. In the afternoon, the TMEC organized the Workshop on Proposal Development and Program Implementation, which featured two themed sessions. During the first session, titled “Experiences in Developing Outdoor and Marine Education Center Proposals,” Principal Yen-Ling Lin of the Penghu Outdoor and Marine Education Center and Mr. Sheng-Yuan Yang of the Keelung Outdoor and Marine Education Center were invited to share their experiences in setting project goals, developing proposals, and establishing implementation frameworks. During the second session, titled “Local Government Experiences in Proposal Solicitation and Review,” Ms. Hsiu-Chin Huang of Nantou County and Ms. Hsin-Pei Li of Hualien County described how their respective local governments organize proposal solicitation and review processes, provide support resources, and encourage schools to actively apply for funding. A total of 110 participants attended the event.
