The Marine Science and Climate Change Awareness Lecture is held annually while aligning with the academic calendar of senior high schools or below. Participant applications and enrollment are conducted in two phases, and the lecture has consistently received enthusiastic responses. In 2024, the lecture continued to focus on five core themes, namely “Marine Disaster Prevention and Aquatic Safety,” “Marine Culture and Society,” “Marine Science and Technology,” “Marine Resources and Sustainability,” and “Climate Change and Development.” Additionally, the number of sessions was increased to allow more students to gain knowledge about the ocean.
Lecturers with academic backgrounds and educational outreach experience were invited to share their expertise. To make the lectures more engaging and enriching, they utilized multimedia materials, including popular science articles, videos, and recently acquired knowledge, along with diverse teaching aids. These resources brought the ocean into the classroom, enabling students to operate tools or participate in hands-on activities to explore the mysteries of the marine environment.
From April 30 to December 13, 2024, a total of 40 sessions were held, attracting 4,058 participants. The lecture was well-received by both teachers and students, underscoring the importance of sharing marine science knowledge and enhancing students’ ocean literacy.
