The Selection of Marine Education Achievements across Special Municipalities, Counties and Cities in 2018 was organized by the Taiwan Marine Education Center under the commission of K-12 Educational Administration. The aims were to encourage special municipalities, counties and cities to showcase the characteristics and achievements of marine education in these places, and facilitate mutual learning, interaction and application of ideas.

        The selection looked at three components: online platforms, publications, and exhibitions of the counties and cities’ efforts and achievements in promoting marine education. The evaluation of the first component was conducted by 5 adjudicators and completed by September 27, 2019. The evaluation of the second component was undertaken by 5 adjudicators and completed by October 9, 2019. The evaluation of the third component took place during the Marine Education Achievements Observation and Teachers Learning Convention 2019 on October 17, and was assessed by 3 adjudicators. The scores of each adjudicator were standardized for parity.

        The final selection conference was held at the Chunlan Hall of Forte Hotel Hsinchu, at 8.30 p.m on October 17. The following shows the 3 High Distinction awardees, 5 Distinction awardees and 3 Merit awardees (no actual prize involved) based on the total score ranking:

    Aside from the awards above, the adjudicating team also awarded Jury Prizes to Nantou County and Lienchiang County for their remarkable progress in promoting marine education. During the award ceremony, they received commendations and were gifted items relating to marine education as a form of encouragement and support from the adjudicating team.
