2019 lecturer training and study tours for marine career exploration teaching and development (the Southern session)
The 2019 lecturer training and study tours for marine career exploration teaching and development (the southern session), hosted by the Taiwan Marine Education Center, was held on June 17 in the Kaohsiung Municipal Chien Chen Junior High School, with a total of 29 participants who are teachers from all over Taiwan.
In his opening speech, Mr. Cheng-Chieh Chang, director of the Taiwan Marine Education Center, said: “Kaohsiung City is quite active in promoting marine education, and the Taiwan Marine Education Center has held the lecturer training and study tours for marine career in cooperation with the Chien Chen Junior High School for two consecutive years. This time, the marine career teaching package the interest of junior and senior high school students that is currently being developed was first published in conjunction with the website for marine career and the code of department interesting them, aiming to effectively helped the teachers of junior and senior high schools tutor their students in the future employment and development. Meanwhile, this study was held in cooperation with the National Tung Kang Maritime & Fishery Vocational High school and a learning experience implementation course was provided to enable the participants to simultaneously understand the marine career resources of NTOU, National Tung Kang Maritime & Fishery Vocational High school and the Chien Chen Junior High School. Ms. Hua-Chen Liang, president of the Kaohsiung Municipal Chien Chen Junior High School, said: “Chien Chen Junior High School, the Kaohsiung City Ocean Education Curriculum Center, has posted the marine teaching curriculum modules online. With the Maritime & Fishery career exploration center constructed this year, software and hardware facilities are added. The marine career exploration curriculum, presented by the Taiwan Marine Education Center, can help students to understand the prospects of the marine industry through the experience of outstanding personnel in the academy and industry. In other words, this curriculum is helpful in deepening the career development and teaching.
The curriculum includes several courses: “the demonstration center for local career exploration and experiencing of Maritime & Fishery and business management” by Yi-Ya Wang from the Kaohsiung Municipal Chien Chen Junior High School; “the teaching example of the teaching package for junior and senior high school students’ interest corresponding to marine career development” by Mei-Yu Li from the National Keelung Girls' Senior High School; the industry experience of “River and sea are never aging; shipping never stops” by Hsin-Hsiung Fang, chair of the dept. of Navigation of Taipei University of Marine Technology; President Tsai-Hung Huang, and Secretary Shu-Pei Tsai of the National Tung Kang Maritime and Fishery Vocational High School introduce the school resources. Meanwhile, "the aquarium layout" and "the production of sealed cans and aquatic products" are delivered by Ying-Ju Hung and Ya-Ling Yang from the National Tung Kang Maritime and Fishery Vocational High School, respectively. The two courses provide implementation experience activities in aquaculture and aquatic product processing, respectively. The participants said: "every teacher is very good and the implementation course is very impressive".
