In 2022, the TMEC signed a memorandum of understanding with Wakasa Senior High School in Fukui Prefecture, Japan, aiming to foster deeper collaboration and promoting exchanges between Taiwan and Japan in marine education. Building on the success of the 2024 Poster Exchange Exhibition, the TMEC once again partnered with the Institute of Education and Teacher Education Center at National Taiwan Ocean University (NTOU) to jointly host the “2025 Marine Education Achievement Exchange Exhibition.”
On March 7, 2025, faculty and students from Wakasa Senior High School visited NTOU to engage in academic exchange with peers and teachers from Keelung Municipal Nuannuan Senior High School, Keelung Municipal Anle Senior High School, and National Keelung Senior High School, with the event bringing together nearly 70 participants. The event featured presentations on marine-related research topics and was attended by three distinguished experts: Director Sheng-Wen Tseng from the Bachelor Degree Program in Oceanic Cultural Creative Design Industries at NTOU, Associate Professor Liang-Ting Tsai from the Institute of Education and Teacher Education Center at NTOU, and Dr. Takashi Matsuoka from the United Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences at Kagoshima University, Japan. These experts provided the participating students with constructive feedback.
The event saw enthusiastic interaction between Taiwanese and Japanese participants. Students delivered oral presentations in English, sharing their research on global marine sustainability and local ecological conservation. The presentations were well received by the attending scholars, who commended the depth and quality of the students’ work. This event not only strengthened educational and cultural ties between Taiwan and Japan but also heightened students’ attention to critical marine issues.
