Brazilian Extreme Sports Adventurer Pedro Oliva Visits NTOU to Strengthen International Exchange in Marine Education

  The TMEC continues to foster international engagement and was honored to welcome Pedro Oliva, an extreme sports adventurer from Brazil, to NTOU on March 24. This cross-cultural marine education exchange injected new energy and a global perspective into Taiwan’s marine education landscape.

  Pedro Oliva is a world-renowned extreme sports athlete, known for setting global records in whitewater kayaking. In addition to his athletic achievements, he is a long-time advocate for marine environmental conservation, possessing deep insights on and having passion for ocean-related issues. The seminar began with Pedro delivering an inspiring presentation, sharing his extraordinary adventures and personal experiences. Through captivating storytelling, he illustrated the magnificence of the ocean and the importance of environmental protection. Following the seminar, Pedro joined Chien-Wen Chen, section chief of the TMEC, for a kayaking trip to Keelung Islet. This sea-based experience allowed Pedro to gain appreciation for the natural beauty of Taiwan’s marine environment and the unique charm of its northern coastline.

  Pedro Oliva’s visit offered a valuable opportunity for international exchange, enriching cross-cultural dialogue in marine education. It also laid the foundation for future collaboration in advancing global marine education initiatives.
